How to install apps on BYD Multimedia

This tutorial does two things:

1 - For those who have an older version of BYD multimedia and want to update to the latest version (2310220);

2 - For those who already have the latest version (2310) and are unable to install apps due to the multimedia center being blocked.

This tutorial is in version 1.0 and is the result of just over 20 days of research, trial and error to be able to install apps on BYD multimedia.

There are countless YouTube videos on the internet explaining how to easily install applications, but they only work on versions prior to 2310, which was released in October 2023.

As everyone already knows, from version 2310 of the multimedia on all BYD car models, it is no longer possible to install apps via pendrive, USB debug or even by downloading via the browser. All these procedures were blocked by BYD.

I created this website to help who have the same problem and cannot find a solution on the internet, or through the dealership.

The only solution is to downgrade to a previous version, which still allows installing apks.

Below I explain how to perform this downgrade procedure, unlock the multimedia and then reinstall the latest version while maintaining the unlock even in future updates.

IMPORTANT!

Downgrade Multimedia version

1 - The first thing is to have a pendrive of at least 8GB formatted in FAT32. If you don't know how to do it, you can easily find it on the internet.

2 - Access this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BBZNKq9yrYeTl5uoKnoxEk-kNXuoIKFz?usp=sharing

3- There you will find the following folder structure:

4 - Folder 2307 has the latest version that still allows you to install apks, you need to enter this folder and copy all its contents to the formatted pendrive.

The BYDUpdatePackage folder should be at the root of the pendrive with a subfolder called msm8953_64 and finally a file called UpdateFull.zip

The structure is already ready, just copy it to the pendrive.

5 - Once copied, connect the pendrive to your BYD's USB and the following screen will appear:

6 - Click OK and the system will check the integrity of the pendrive and make a copy to the multimedia:

7 - From this moment, you don't need to do anything else, just wait for the multimedia restart itself and actually begin the installation:

8 - The process can take up to 40 minutes, it will depend on the speed of your pendrive, at the end the control unit will restart and show the message that it has been updated:

9 - You can go to System Settings -> Version Manager -> Multimedia Details to see the installed version:

That's it, you have version 2307211, which allows you to install applications following the dozens of tutorials available on the internet and YouTube!

I left some apps in the Apps folder from the same link, you can install some of them or download them from other locations.

Installl PackageInstallerUnlocked.apk

It is extremely important that you install PackageInstallerUnlocked.apk, because with it installed, you will be able to install any app from any folder, without a password and most importantly, you will be able to update the multimedia again to new versions without losing the app installation functionality.

Update Multimedia Version

To install the latest current version 2310220, do exactly the same downgrade procedure, but using the contents of the 2310 folder in the link above.
